When hell comes knocking

The 45° Reflection—Turning Toward Hope, One Story at a Time

You don’t have to go looking for a fight—sometimes, hell comes looking for you.

Maybe you’ve been doing everything “”right”—showing up to church, praying more, fighting temptation—and suddenly the pressure intensifies. Old habits resurface. Doubt creeps in. Depression lingers. Fear knocks loudly.

That’s not coincidence—that’s spiritual warfare.

The enemy doesn't waste energy on people who aren't moving forward. If hell is knocking, it may be because heaven is about to open something over your life.

Hezekiah Faced Hell on the Outside—and the Inside

In 2 Kings 19, Hezekiah faced a national crisis—the king of Assyria mocking, threatening, and surrounding Jerusalem. But instead of panicking, Hezekiah went to the temple and spread it all before God. God responded. Victory came.

But in Isaiah 38, Hezekiah faced a very different kind of knock—a personal one.

“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet…said to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’” — Isaiah 38:1

No army. No messengers. Just devastating news: You're not going to make it.

And once again, Hezekiah doesn’t run, complain, or spiral. He turns to the wall and prays.

“Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord…” — Isaiah 38:2

He faced the threat—not by arguing with the prophet or trying to control the outcome, but by facing God directly. And God, in His mercy, gave Hezekiah 15 more years of life.

What Do You Do When It’s You That’s Under Attack?

Sometimes hell doesn’t show up as temptation or pressure from the outside. Sometimes it’s the diagnosis… The depression… The doubt… The voice that says, “It’s over.”

In those moments, like Hezekiah, you don’t need a platform—you need a posture. Turn your face to the wall. Shut out the noise. And cry out to the only One who can speak life into dead situations.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

The enemy’s strategy hasn’t changed:

  • Attack your mind with doubt.

  • Attack your heart with fear.

  • Attack your future with shame.

But the Word says:

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” — Isaiah 54:17 “The gates of hell shall not prevail…” — Matthew 16:18

So when you feel surrounded, discouraged, or overwhelmed, remember this:

You’re not in this battle by yourself — and the good news is, you’re not fighting for victory, you’re fighting from a place of victory that’s already been won.

You Don’t Need to Retreat—You Need to Reflect

At 45 Degree Ministries, we believe that sometimes a breakthrough doesn’t come from a full reset but from a shift—a 45° turn. A small but intentional decision to face God and not your fear. To reflect on the truth of His Word instead of the lies of your circumstances.

Whether it’s an army at the gate or a battle in your body—God is still in control.

Pray this prayer

“Lord, when fear knocks loud, help me face You first. When I’m overwhelmed, give me the faith to turn to You — like Hezekiah did. Speak life where there’s been death, and let me reflect Your strength even in my weakness. Amen.”
